Here’s a look at some of the numbers making headlines in the HR world.

The level hiring in the U.S. fell to in December, according to a report from BambooHR. Hiring levels in the U.S. and globally were the lowest recorded in five years.

The average amount by which end-of-year bonuses increased in December compared to 2023, according to a report from Gusto. Bonuses climbed slightly from $2,447 to $2,503.

The number of attorneys general who sent a letter to Costco’s president and CEO calling for the company to “end all unlawful discrimination imposed by the company” through DEI policies. The AGs requested that Costco either notify them that it has dropped its DEI programs within 30 days or “explain why [it] has failed to do so.”

$197 million

The amount of bonuses Taylor Swift reportedly awarded her entire crew after she wrapped up her worldwide Eras tour. The move is something business leaders can learn from, an employee experience strategist said.

$100 billion

The amount the Trump administration expects to save from federal workers who choose to take “deferred resignations,” according to an Office of Personnel Management spokesperson. The administration estimates 5% to 10% of federal employees will accept the offer.
