Under new U.S. laws, NVIDIA Corporation ( NVDA , Financials ) said in a Friday filing that its high-performance processors are now subject to more stringent export restrictions.

Published on Jan. 15, the "Export Control Framework for Artificial Intelligence Diffusion," will need worldwide permits for certain items beginning May 15, 2025. Affected goods include future items that satisfy certain performance standards in addition to NVIDIA's A100, H100, and other sophisticated processors.

Over the 120-day consultation period, concluding in May, NVIDIA intends to provide comments on the regulations. The business committed itself to help U.S. technological leadership and create artificial intelligence infrastructure.

In a similar development, U.S. officials unveiled more regulations on Jan. 16, 2025, mandating additional inspections on chip makers to stop illegal use. As an authorized chip designer, NVIDIA said these guidelines are unlikely to have an impact on its sales or operations in China.

The firm underlined continuous dangers including economic difficulties and dependence on outside manufacturers and admitted that these developments may affect its operations. NVIDIA said it would keep innovating while adjusting to the changing regulatory scene.
